WOW - great effort on sports day everyone. Endless examples of sportsmanship, healthy competitiveness, sparkling team spirit, sporting skills and, of course, outstanding dancing and singing: Your dancing during Hall of Fame and Waka Waka has certainly helped the new AstroTurf to 'bed in'!
This year's top 3 bands from the Battle of the Bands 2015 headed over to Downs Infant School last Friday to perform to a huge and enthusiastic crowd.
RMV (Ruby 6A) performed 2 of her own songs. The audience were stunned and mesmerised during her performances. Her songs are incredible and she has such maturity and control in her voice. Trademark (Jacy, Stanley, Hugo and Vinnie from 6H) performed their own song 'The Bully and Me'. The lyrics tackle important aspects of bullying and the children in the audience really enjoyed the cool beats and the funky rapping in the song. The Tropical (Sophie, Anna, Ruby, Madeleine and Hattie from 4DP) performed a fantastic acoustic version of 'Best Day of Your Life'. Their projection, confidence and precision was exemplary. Great outfits too girls! Jacy also performed a variety of pieces and improvised on piano for the audience as they entered the hall. He received rapturous applause for his impressive, natural talent. Thank you and well done to all of the children who performed. Apparently the children at Downs Infant School are still talking about the "awesome gig"! The next big musical extravaganza will occur on Thursday 9th July at our school's Summer Festival. There will be performances from Mega Choir, Super Choir, Orchestra, Bands, soloists and ensemble groups. Put it in your diary. Friday 5th June
